Description

The following article was taken from the PIPA website and has been quoted verbatim:

Chris Hebberecht (Evergem, BE) owes his many great results to a top class breed.

Champion, Pancho, Jempy, Ike and Jaws are iconic national long distamce birds that turned into Chris Hebberecht an internationally renowned fancier. And these bloodlines have led to some magnificent results in the long distance and the extreme long distance again in 2018. Hebberecht is a household name in pigeon racing. It stands for more than 50 years of great success in the national long and extreme long distance. The passion for pigeon racing was passed on from father to son. It all began with grandfather Henri, a renowned sprint fancier at the time. His son Octaaf raised the bar, turning into a highly reputable long distance fancier. And then we have Chris Hebberecht, who got involved in the sport from very early on. He raced together with his father Octaaf as a youngster, and eventually took over the entire team when his father passed in 1999. Meanwhile, the team continued to focus on the old birds' races in the long distance and the extreme long distance. Chris Hebberecht turned into a great star and one of Belgium's leading names in the national long distance. He wins races and he lets other fanciers win as well: his pigeons have demonstrated their potential in lofts across the globe! His birds have won first prizes and ace pigeon titles in the Million Dollar Race, the Thailand Grand Pigeon Race, the Belgian Masters and the Victoria Falls. That's right, the Hebberecht breed has excelled in some of the most prestigious competitions worldwide. And let's not forget their many national top results and national ace pigeon titles at home, including the following title in 20187 alone:  1st Champion Extreme Long Distance OVV-FVOV 2018, 2nd National Team Relay (together with the Desbuquois brothers), 2nd Extreme Long Distance AJD 2018, 2nd Marathom Champion & 2nd General Champion Marathon Riddersclub, 10th Prov. Champion Long Distance olds & YLs KBDB East Flanders 2018, as well as a title of 7th National Champion Extreme Long Distance and Long Distance YLs KBDB in the national championships KBDB. This last title was won by an excellent team of yearlings with a very bright future, according to Chris.

A Breed Based Around National Ace Pigeons
Among the national ace pigeons that played a defining role in this breed are AXL (1st Nat Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance KBDB 2005), Pancho (1st Prov. and 2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB 2004), and Champion (1st Prov. and 2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB 2005). Champion is perhaps the most famous of them; his descendants have really dominated the competition in recent years, along with the descendants of such renowned long distance birds as Ike (1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB 2010), Jaws (3rd Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance 2010), Eros (6th Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB 2015, a son of Jaws), Edou (7th Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB 2016), and Jempy (half brother of Champion, [and] the sire of Ike). We reckon these names will sound familiar to many of you.
