There is a Toby Keith song that has been playing recently following his death: “Don’t Let the Old Man In”. I started flying pigeons more than 6-decades ago…flew my first race season, and won my first race in 1962. So, like many other current flyers I am no longer a “kid”. I’m trying hard “not to let the old man in”.
Long story short, we have too many birds…too many good birds! The issue is energy and work associated with too many birds. Due to recent health issues, it is evident that many of our birds must go to a new home.
For those of you that don’t know Double T Lofts, we are in Edmond, Oklahoma, (formerly Midland, Texas). My son Tim and I have been partners for a number of years. Tim has a real job and family so his involvement is limited. While we are Double T Lofts, the AU Race Results and National Results are in my name: Tom Beard. Please look at our race record and National Standings for the past years. We have done very well. To do very well you must have good birds. We have really good birds!
We will be selling about 150 stock birds in the next few months. We are reducing breeding pairs to 12… from 29 pairs. This will be the most painful thing I’ve done in the pigeon sport. We must move many breeding birds that have produced winners, including many imports from top Belgian and Netherlands’ fanciers. We will also sell many stock birds, which are primarily children of our breeders.
Starting prices will be very low. The low starting prices are only because we must move these birds. The birds we will offer will be excellent and originally cost many multiples of their starting price. Many of these birds were purchased from the PIPA and GPS Auctions in Europe.
Please call Tom @ 432-559-3637 or Tim @ 432-559-2623 with questions.
Thanks,
Tom & Tim Beard
