Description

Direct from Cajun Country of South Louisiana

In the following weeks I will be selling pigeons from Gilbert Wiltz, and including all of my own pigeons because I have decided that because of health issues I can no longer take care of them the way that I used to.  Together we will each donate a pigeon or 2 to St. Jude Benefit, so keep an eye on it also!

Gilbert Wiltz took an interest in pigeons as a youngster catching bridge pigeons as we call them.  Later on in life when he was married with children and had the money and the time to spare, he meet a man that was racing pigeons, we will call him Mr. Francis.  But as most of us starting out with give me’s from friends and club members he could not get on the 1st page, and that is not what Gilbert had in mind.  He started looking at who was winning and selling pigeons that won everywhere, and that person was Mike Ganus.

One day Gilbert just sat down and made the call that changed his life.   Mike told him he would be glad to help him if he followed everything he said and not to deviate from it one single item.  1st he would have to buy better breeders.  That is what he did, he bought an entire breeding team from Mike’s best Ace pigeons or their parents (like Breeder’s Best).

He talked to Mike almost daily for almost 2 years before it finally came to be – he could not be beat!   Them days they were still using counter markers, so Gilbert would take the first 5 to 10 pigeons every week (Electronic timers make it possible to take the 1st 20 to 25 places).

Well after 5 years of this brutal attack on his club they had enough, they moved the club headquarters where it was too far for Gilbert to travel twice a race.   He started looking for another club close by, but all of them would not take him – their words, what do you want to do, break up our club too?????  No club would have him.

This was in 2000, that same year he had taken Champion Loft, Champion Bird, and Average Speed.   He was so upset, he left that team in the race loft (a very large loft).  They started breeding (what do you expect them to do all males and females mixed together in a big loft with nothing else to do?)   They bred kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.   No Bands, no pedigrees, just a great big group of pigeons from the best team in Houston in 2000 and no records kept.  Gilbert loved them, but they got expensive to keep and Gilbert didn’t have the heart to sell not even one.  Last year he finally had to do something about it.   He hired the great and one of the most known pigeon graders and past president of the AU Freddie Revera to go through those birds.  I am getting a little ahead of myself.  He allowed a close friend and owner of A-Champ RX to pick a pigeon from that group.  At the time she was the farthest thing from a pigeon grader.  She picked a pigeon (like most women would) by the color and looks alone, and he is now the foundation pigeon of her loft, and has bred many, many winners!

Back to the present.  Freddie broke down the numbers by taking.450 pigeons out and selling them for $5 each.  Now you can imagine what the final 50 were like!   Awesome in the hand and super breeding eyesign!   I picked up the best 25 and brought them to my loft to sell to you guys here on ipigeon.  You will not have a pedigree, a bloodline, or any other type of papers, just awesome pigeons with super eyesign and super body’s.   I will be selling them starting at $100 for 3 pigeons.  They are pretty even male/females.  You will know and see each pigeon, and his/her eye.  You will not know the exact age.  We will not guarantee nothing but you will get a live pigeon.  You will get something alive or we will refund with another pigeon post paid by us.  We will be offering mostly 1 male with 2 females, or the opposite.

Is that it for Gilbert racing pigeon, no by no means.  Gilbert started sending to one loft races.  After 18 years of one loft racing Gilbert has accomplished what very few have, winning 1st or equal 1st at some of the most well known and highest dollar races in the country and the world !!!!   Vegas Classic, Flamingo Race, Canadian International, and many more.  Several top finishes in South Africa

Some of the pigeons we will be offering will be banded, but as with the un-banded, But these will probably be brothers and sisters (1/2 or ¾) to the one loft racers we just lost records on.    At least these you will know the year, but that is it.   Gilbert does not breed from unknown pigeons that are not Very, Very well bred, or that are not rated very high by his grader(s).  A few will have pedigrees and a full background, but not too many of these exist that are for sale.

Unlike Gilbert my pigeons will all be banded and pedigreed, and also unlike Gilbert I never flew very well in club competition.   I was very far offline and longest loft in my club (20 miles offline and 20 miles long).   I did fly one year after my heart attack and after I moved to be not so far, and closer to being on the line of flight, and won 4 of 16 races and one time 4 equal 1st’s, and many 2nd’s, 3rd’s, and etc.  My health got worse with back issues and Agent Orange detected from my time in the Marine Corps in Vietnam.  I did enjoy a very good one loft race record with one of the best flying records in the Texas Center Conventions, with many times 1st or equal firsts.    I have placed well in other races like equal 1st (by one second) in the East Coast Challenge.  I have an even better record selling many super breeders and foundation breeders for many lofts across the country.   It has been said to me many times that I had some of the best Hofkens in the country, which I can thank Mike Ganus for because all of the better ones come from him directly or indirectly. Check out my website for the bloodlines I have used at Cajun Express.

If you have any questions you may call me (Gerald Hebert) at 337-368-7484, or email me at gkhebert@bellsouth.net    If I make any sales over the phone which come from this add, 10% will be sent to ipigeon, and those guys know I do what I say I will do.   I feel I am and I was told by Fred, they think of me as the most honest seller they have dealing with them.

The pair of pigeon in the photo are a "Golden Couple", in the 2012 they bred the winner of the Midwest Convention by 21 minutes ahead, including 5 more winners at the owners home in his club.  They have bred about 6 or 8 more winners since then, but cannot be verified.  I sold this couple to Ron DesLauies of Minnesota as young birds.  The cock is a direct son of "Secret Weapon", the best one loft breeder I have ever owned (at least 12 that I can remember), and a full brother of "Easy Jet" who was sold to Hawaii about 4 years ago for $1,800 after he bred about 5 one loft race money winners.  The hen was =1st at the Texas Center Convention in 2011.  Ron sold them to a new flyer who never really learned to fly very well and I bought them from him and resold them to Gilbert and they will be in his loft from now on.
