This stunning 2024 cream bar hen comes directly from my silver Janssen, Houben and Hofken mixed line, a line without formal pedigree but full of heart and remarkable homing instinct great hen for potential breeding.
I originally purchased the parents from Carroll Hoover back in 2013 and produced a really nice pair in 2016. I flew them in a club race as young birds and had some success, the cock placed first in the 100-mile race, and I immediately retained him and his sister for my breeding program.
In 2018, I decided to stop flying club races to focus on one-loft races, so I sold the parents and their offspring to a flyer in Pennsylvania. Sadly, in 2021 he became very sick with COVID and could no longer care for his birds. Instead of contacting me to take them back, he opened his loft and released them all. Against the odds, the offspring made the incredible flight back to my loft in Delaware, nearly two and a half hours away. The parents were not so lucky, but I still use these offspring in my breeding program today.
