DeRauw-Sablons
A few years ago, I started acquiring some outstanding, older DeRauw-Sablon imports from several sources but mainly from Frank McLaughlin to whom I am grateful. They are very closely bred to many of the famous DeRauw-Sablon champions and represent the very best bloodlines of this strain. Because of their age, I wasn’t sure how long they would continue breeding. However, over the last couple of years, I have been fortunate to raise quite a few youngsters from the original imports and also from their sons and daughters. I now have an outstanding group of, what I believe are, some of the very best of the famous DeRauw-Sablon strain.
Over the next several weeks, I will be offering a number of outstanding birds from the best bloodlines of this famous strain, with many of them off of proven breeders. This is an opportunity to get some excellent, well-bred DeRauw-Sablons. These are straight DeRauw-Sablons and are bred either from direct children of my old, foundation imports or from the direct imports themselves. Because the DeRauw-Sablons have been used so successfully as a cross, straight-bred DeRauw-Sablons this close to the famous champions are getting very difficult if not nearly impossible to find.
The DeRauw-Sablons are a true family of birds and were developed over some 30 years through very selective inbreeding and line-breeding and, as a result, they make a great cross with just about any other good family of birds. Some of the very best and well-known flyers here in the US, in Belgium, Holland, as well as a number of other countries recognized the value of the DeRauw-Sablon strain. Fanciers such as such as Marcel Aelbrecht, the late Jules Mannaert, Marc DeCock, the late Andre Verbesselt, Erik Limbourg, Freddy & Jacques Vandenheede, the late Pros Roosen, Gerard Koopman, Gaby Vandenabeele and many, many more have had tremendous success either with straight DeRauw-Sablons or by crossing the DeRauw-Sablons into their family of birds. They are responsible for a number of National and Provincial winners and Ace Pigeons!
Attached are some photos of a few of my DeRauw-Sablon imports.
