Ed Abramoski was a well-known flyer of old Houbens in the Buffalo, NY area. Many know Eddie from his 37 years of service with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills as their Head Trainer. He was one of the original Buffalo Bills hired by Ralph Wilson when the Bills entered the NFL! He is the listed on the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame and the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. But did you know of his passion for racing pigeons? Those that do, they know of his 500m day bird’s year in and year out, even clocking a few 600m Day birds along the way (he also was recognized as 2007 IF Person of the Year). If you aren’t aware of his long distance success, consider that he served as the President of the Grand International 600 Mile Club.
Just like many other thankful flyers, he helped me get started back into the sport with offering me some beautiful young birds and even came back with a few breeders for me. However, he passed away this past year, and I acquired some additional breeders at an auction of his remaining birds to cross into my Houben lines. With a couple rounds out of each, I am scaling back and swapping them for their young. First up is this pair of Abramoski bred Houbens.
This auction is for a pair; a medium sized Blue Check cock (BUF 2020 394) with a medium sized Blue Check hen (BUF 2021 541) that have bred me two rounds this year, so you are not getting overworked birds. This pair will cross in long-distance for your already established lines. I selected these birds by eye, not by paper as I was NOT provided pedigrees with the birds purchased directly from him nor through the auction. Additionally, these two were not bred together. I only bred them as crosses and I am excited about racing their beautiful young this Fall!
(The following was taken from a previous IPigeon auction to share additional background on these birds and the success they have achieved for other flyers as well)
A little more about the man behind these birds - Excerpt from ifpigeon.com:
Eddies birds were always sought after by the top fanciers, noted for winning many out of area races over the years, among them the great Salt Lake Classic, handled by dale Bullough, the Illinois State Race handled by Bob Kinney, the East Meadow Futurity he has won twice in recent years once by Tim McManus and once by Val Matteucci.
Eddie has helped many new fanciers get started giving them excellent pigeons and advice. He is very open and honest, real down to earth when asked question.
Many fanciers still call him for help when a problem arises, whether it be breeding, training or diagnoses on a sickness. Eddie with his expertise always has an answer or he has the ability to find the correct answer to any problem.
In his early years in the sport, when he was trying to leer he was often given very poor advice and vowed never to give any one bad or willfully wrong advice. Ed a man of integrity and is admired by all who have the pleasure of sharing his company.
He has always supported the I.F, he has traveled to the Olympiads to England, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Austria, and Italy.
Good Luck to you!
